Under the auspices of the Honourable Gaston Browne, Prime Minister, and the Office of the Consulate General in New York, presents the 2019 Independence Gala.

The Gala is the signature event held annually to commemorate Antigua and Barbuda's Independence. It is the largest national event outside of Antigua, attracting Antiguans and Barbudans from all over the United States and special guests from around the world.

In recent years the Government of Antigua and Barbuda has focused on preserving the environment. Antigua and Barbuda is the first island in the Caribbean to ban single use plastic bags and Styrofoam food containers. Earlier this year Antigua hosted the first ever ‘Play It Out’ Music Festival to raise awareness on global efforts to fight plastic pollution in the oceans. In this vein, the 2019 Independence Gala is titled "Shades of Blue; Preserving our Paradise". We encourage guests to wear shades of blue, like the ethereal waters of the Caribbean Sea, and collectively pledge to keep it clean and healthy.

Featured entertainment this year will be the world-renowned Original Burning Flames. Antigua and Barbuda’s very own “Fantastic Four” will bring their unprecedented musical catalogue and unique energy to the gala and we promise you won’t soon forget!
